you land in Flores
a short flight from Guatemala City, then the road out to the lake. the group gathers before dark on the Sunday, and the week begins the way it will go on — quietly, together, with the water in front of you.

a sacred pilgrimage. seven nights on Lake Petén Itzá and at the pyramids of the ancient Mayan city, with ceremony, daily practice, and the forest.
the place
Tikal is a city and a series of pyramid complexes in the northern rainforest of Guatemala.
it spans over sixteen square kilometres and more than four thousand five hundred structures, including pyramids that served as ceremonial temples and astronomical observatories. the city's seven most important pyramids are arranged in a geometric pattern aligning with the seven stars of the Pleiades — the seven sisters. it is said that the Mayans who lived at Tikal knew that they came from there.
together we'll commune with the pyramids in ceremony, sharing the ancient Mayan technologies of the sacred fire, cacao, and the twenty Nahuales, led by local guides, with special permission to share sound healing and unite at this ancient sacred site.

daily sadhana on the lakeside platform: yoga, breath, movement, meditation, sound healing, vocal activation. the practices are chosen for where the group is that morning, not for a timetable.
03
fire ceremonies with the twenty Nahuales, cacao, and the inípi sweat lodge — led by Tata Rolando and local Mayan elders, with special permission to gather and share sound at the sacred sites themselves.

an afternoon in the plunge pool after the temazcal. a boat across the lake. a hammock, a book, and the sound of the forest. the week has as much space in it as it has structure.

on the last morning everyone lays a log into the same fire. you fly home on the Sunday carrying something you did not arrive with.
elements of the retreat
daily mind-body-spirit practice attuned to the cycles of nature, ceremony among the pyramids guided by Mayan elders, and a home on a private nature reserve where the forest does half the work.
our retreat's home
a brand-new retreat centre on a private, secluded nature reserve on the shores of Lake Petén Itzá — Guatemala's third-largest lake. daily practice happens on the lakeside platform, cacao ceremonies in the jungle, temazcal followed by the plunge pool, sunrises and sunsets, and the lake's turquoise water in between.
